In an effort to support Ontarians in their journey to access the right care at the right time, Health811 provides online connection to health care 24/7.
The newly assigned tool is a free, secure and confidential service that will provide Ontarians with call service to receive health advice from qualified health professionals, including registered nurses, and help locate local health services and find trusted health information.
Also known as Santé811 in French, Health811 replaces Health Connect Ontario, and will provide similar services. Making health advice easy for everyone, Health811 is only for non-urgent health questions and concerns and is not a replacement for daily touchpoints with health care providers. You can reach 911 immediately to make medical emergency calls.
With Health811, you can access over 200 languages, including Indigenous languages such as Cree, Ojibwe and Inuktitut. The health resource provides support for those searching for information about mental health and addictions information. It serves as a directory to find health services and health care providers by keyword, location or postal code.
Health811 also features an artificial intelligence-powered symptom assessment tool that allows users to navigate through a series of questions to better understand their symptoms and provides care options, as well as a downloadable symptom report. People can call Health811 to get a free fecal immunochemical test (FIT) for colorectal cancer screening, receive assistance finding a family physician or nurse practitioner accepting new patients, connect to the Refugee HealthLine and more.
Visit Ontario.ca/Health811 or Ontario.ca/Sante811 to connect, chat with a registered nurse day or night or call 811 (TTY: 1-866-797-0007) to make health-related inquires.
